Pilot Logbook and Flight Data Recorder

So much more than just a logbook. The Flight Data Recorder records many in-flight parameters such as Avg speed, Max G, Avg climb/descent rates, climb/descent time, distance and speed, and more. Your flight track is also recorded. Mark and save Points Of Interest and take pictures from within the App during your flight. All this data is saved along with your logbook entry. You can go back and look at any of your old flights and see the FDR data and flight track map.

Of course, HandyStats is also an automated logbook. Press Start at engine start and Stop at engine shutdown and HandyStats will record your entire flight. There is an integrated world wide airport database that allows HandyStats to automatically record your takeoff and landing airports. It automatically records flight time, air time, start time, shutdown time, landings, night time/landings etc. You can also manually add logbook entries.

The logbook file has the usual input fields for PIC, SIC, solo, night, IFR, etc. This file can be customized too. You can easily add numeric fields, text fields, yes/no check boxes, and date fields to the logbook. Any of the fields that you add can be used to filter reports and totals. Any numeric fields that you add will be totalled in the reports just like the built-in numeric fields like flight and air time.

There is a separate aircraft file where you list the aircraft types and indicate their properties such as SEL, complex, turbine, retractable etc. This file can be customized too. You can add fields to keep track of other aircraft properties that are not in the default list. Reports will include totals for each aircraft property, including the ones that you add.

When you make a logbook entry you choose the aircraft type from the aircraft file and your logbook entry is automatically tagged with all of the aircrafts properties such as SEL, complex, retractable etc.

Easily generate reports that show totals by pretty much any parameter you want. Each numeric field in the logbook is totalled and included in the report. See totals for each aircraft property (SEL, retractable, turbine, etc), and each aircraft type. Generate reports for any date range that you want. You can also generate reports that are filtered by any logbook field value. For instance, you can generate a report for only a certain aircraft type or ident, or only include entries where Bob was a passenger, or business trip is in the remarks. By adding your own custom fields to the logbook you can get very creative and get any kind of total that you want to keep.

HandyStats has on-screen reports that will suffice for most things. But when you need a hard copy, it will generate PDF reports that can be printed on your desktop computer. You can customize the PDF report to include the fields you want and you can arrange the reports column order to suite your needs.

When HandyStats is recording a flight it goes into ‘Flight Mode’ where it shows you real time Flight Data Recorder stats and it shows your flight track on a map (need cellular data to see the map).

The App is free for the first 30 logbook entries. After that, there is a small yearly subscription fee for continued use. You may continue to log flights past 30, but reporting is disabled until the subscription fee is paid.

This App is brought to you by a professional software developer (since 1978) and an active pilot since 1985.

Note: From the time you press Start to record a flight, till the time you press Stop this App will use the GPS even if the phone is shut off. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
